Overview

About 18 Hours

18 Hours is a not-for-profit organisation producing high-quality, accessible and sustainable cultural events across East Sussex and into London.

We work with local, national and international partners to design and deliver festivals, celebrations and community experiences that bring people together. Our events are created with a strong focus on inclusion, creativity and environmental responsibility, with many free for the public to attend.
Partners and collaborators include Hastings Borough Council, Rother District Council, Wealden District Council, Heart of Sidley, University of Brighton, University of East London, and numerous cultural organisations.
We also produce our own flagship events, including Bexhill After Dark and Journeys Festival of Dance.

Alongside events, we are the Development Education Centre (D.E.C.) for East Sussex, supporting teachers to embed global learning across their curriculum. Through practical training and a growing library of resources, artefacts and activities, we help schools build confidence in teaching global citizenship and encouraging young people to become informed, responsible and compassionate global citizens.

Research underpins all aspects of our work. Our studies explore how creativity shapes communities, strengthens inclusion and improves wellbeing. These insights guide our programme design and support our partners in delivering meaningful, evidence-informed projects.

We collaborate with councils, educators, cultural organisations and community groups who share our commitment to equity, sustainability and creative participation.
