In July 2026, the Aalo Critical Test Reactor achieved first criticality at Idaho National Laboratory as part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Reactor Pilot Program. Construction of the pilot Aalo-X full-power 10 MWe power plant is underway.
Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Aalo pairs nuclear scientists, engineers, and operators with builders from technology, defense, and manufacturing to eventually achieve 3ยข/kWh nuclear electricity at scale, growing from 2 people to 200 in three years with $300M+ raised and an operational factory.
