About American Association of University Women, San José Branch

AAUW San José is the local branch of a national organization founded in 1881 by women who defied societal conventions to earn college degrees. Since then, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has championed gender equity in education and economic opportunity for women and girls.

With a vibrant membership of 200+ individuals, AAUW San José offers over 20 Interest Groups, four nonprofit Community Action Projects, and a dynamic Public Policy/Advocacy group. Our members engage in civic action, educational programming, and lifelong learning opportunities.

For more than 25 years, AAUW San José has actively supported girls’ and women’s education. Through programs like Tech Trek, we spark middle school girls’ interest in STEM, and through our Local Scholarship Project, we help women complete their undergraduate degrees. In 2024, our community raised over $150,000 to support local women pursuing higher education.

We also offer leadership development and career advancement training, preparing women for roles of influence across industries.
