About ABCCultureNI
ABC Culture celebrates the artistic, cultural historic fabric of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough established by the Council, and developed and delivered in collaboration with creative people and organisations. ABC Culture reflects our borough’s great cultural people and assets, that collectively speak of our rich heritage, character, and our forward leap into a new, shared, and confident future.
ABC Culture began its journey as the legacy of the bid for UK City of Culture 2025. A bid which inspired support from every corner of our borough and reached across the UK, Ireland and beyond. The bid showed us what we could achieve by working together and creating a vision that revitalised our sense of place and the stories that deserve to be told.
ABC Culture takes it next steps with the National Lottery Heritage Fund's strategic initiative 'Heritage Places'. Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon (ABC) Borough has been chosen by The National Lottery Heritage Fund for inclusion in an exciting new Strategic Initiative entitled, Heritage Places. Heritage Places is a national scheme across the UK where the National Lottery Heritage Fund is proudly supporting these selected places for the next 10 years. So far, the first 9 Places across the UK have been chosen with 11 more to be announced. Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough is the first location in Northern Ireland to be chosen.
Heritage Places represents a 10-year commitment to support the protection, enhancement and celebration of heritage as well as exploring the key linkage between heritage and place shaping/placemaking.
