About Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary

The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC) is the central hub for urban Indigenous support in Mohkinstsis (Calgary). We act as vital social infrastructure, stabilizing the city’s most vulnerable populations through a "For Indigenous, By Indigenous" (FIBI) model that delivers high-yield social return on investment.

2025 IMPACT HIGHLIGHTS:
Housing Leadership: Owner/operator of the award-winning Omahkitapioyis Elders' Lodge and The Bromley Place. We are advancing the shovel-ready Crescent Heights project, creating 18 safe units specifically for Indigenous women and children fleeing violence.

Front-Line Response: Distributed over 24,000 meals and critical winter supplies in 2025.

System Efficiency: Every $1 of core funding leverages $9 through strategic partnerships.

Restoring Identity: Assisting 1,500+ individuals annually with Status Card services.

OUR PILLARS OF SERVICE:

1. Housing & Capital Projects: We act as a developer and property manager of culturally supportive, non-market housing. We provide the "Aboriginal Housing Initiative" (AHI) intensive case management that ensures long-term tenancy success and prevents homelessness.

2. Cultural Outreach & Health: Our Encampment Support (ESTP) and Outreach teams bridge the gap between street survival and housing. We provide essential transport, medical referrals, and culturally grounded support to those most in need.

3. Community & Elders Services: Rebuilding kinship systems through the Kanakaa'tsinom Elders' Drop-in Centre and youth programs like Honouring Life. We provide a vital space for ceremony, language revitalization, and intergenerational healing to restore pride and identity.

PARTNER WITH US: We manage 36+ active agreements with municipal, provincial, and federal partners. Invest in a rigorous organization delivering tangible results.

Many Nations. One Family.
