About Achilles Adelaide
About Us
Achilles Adelaide is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit running and walking group empowering people who are blind or have low vision to get active, stay connected, and enjoy the many benefits of movement.
Founded in October 2024, we’re proudly building an inclusive, community-first space where people of all abilities can walk or run together, guided safely and with purpose. We’re currently working towards becoming a registered charity.
Whether it’s training for a local fun run or simply getting out in the fresh air for a social walk, our aim is simple: to reduce barriers and boost confidence through movement.
Where & When We Train
We meet every Saturday at 8:45am for a 9:00am start, finishing by 10:00am.
📍 Location: The Rotunda, Glenelg
We occasionally join local ParkRuns or community events — follow us on social media to stay in the loop!
A Bit of History
Founded on 24 October 2024, we launched Achilles in SA with our first Torrens ParkRun on 9 November. By 7 February 2025, athletes joined — and we’ve been growing ever since, one guide, one athlete, one step at a time.
How to Join
We welcome:
🦮 Athletes who are blind or have low vision. Contact us for other disabilities.
🟨 Volunteer guides — no experience needed!
