Action within the framework of law
The ADA intervenes within the framework of the procedures and texts defining and governing the right to asylum, and in respect of the institutions which act in this area. This involves supporting asylum seekers in presenting their request in the best possible conditions. Assistance in the regularization of people rejected from asylum is provided by other associations based in Grenoble with expertise in this area – Cimade, APARDAP, etc.
However, the ADA carries out parallel action with public authorities, independently or within local and national collectives, in order to develop the Law and procedures in a direction more in line with the spirit of the Geneva Convention. , and carries out daily monitoring and vigilance activity with the prefecture and other State services to ensure real application of Asylum law and respect for the rights of asylum seekers.
The ADA does not define itself as a charitable association, it stands in solidarity with people and seeks in its actions to engage them in the defense of their rights and their dignity. In this sense, it acts “with” asylum seekers to make them autonomous in their choices and in their lives.
Solidarity and testimony
The ADA is a grassroots association that attempts to respond to the individual requests of asylum seekers, alone or in a network. This field action is also diverse, whether it involves listening, social or legal support or financial assistance.
The action of the ADA would not be coherent without its desire to bear witness to the realities experienced by asylum seekers. We are present through support in the prefecture, in the courts, in all the places visited by asylum seekers.
This testimony also involves participation in observation campaigns and data collection conducted by the Asylum Observatory in Isère (OASIS).
