About Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program

The mission of the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program is to educate, support, empower, and advocate for breast cancer patients, professionals, and the community.

We are here to answer your questions, match you with someone who understands what you are going through, and provide resources in the community you live in. Our licensed social workers and volunteers are just a call away. (800.877.8077)

Adelphi University has a longstanding record of responding to needs in the community. In 1980, the first post mastectomy group began at Adelphi’s School of Social Work, located in Garden City, NY.

The women in the support group, all of whom felt extremely isolated when they were diagnosed, found comfort in sharing their fears, questions and experiences among others who were experiencing the same feelings. These group members, along with staff, faculty, and interns at Adelphi, developed the “Woman-to-Woman Hotline.” Today, we have the oldest breast cancer hotline in the country staffed by professionally trained and supervised volunteers; most are breast cancer survivors. All of our services are completely free and confidential.

Our Services Include:
- Our toll-free Breast Cancer Hotline
- Licensed Social Work Services (in English and Spanish)
- Support Groups
- Sisters United in Health (SUIH)
- Educational Forums
- Community Outreach
- Celebration of Survivorship
