About Africa on the Ball
Africa on the Ball is a non-profit organisation which uses the power of football as a vehicle to empower African communities to live full, healthy and sustainable lives.
We are developing a model centered around using football and its popularity for the benefit of all within communities.
There are many ways we believe sport can be a huge tool for community’s development.
On an initial level we believe that team sports such as football can play a pivotal role in teaching essential life skills such as communication, leadership, motivation, discipline and helps give young people a focus, keeping them from the temptation of drugs and alcohol, both of which are major problems in certain areas of Africa. Within our model we’ve developed in Zambia, we’re developing a Leadership program where our players learn about being role models and highlight the importance of goal setting, education and helping within the community.
We use our team as a vehicle for engagement with other members of the local area and aim to help and support them with healthcare, finance and education.
