About AISCAT (Associazione Italiana Società Concessionarie Autostrade e Trafori)
AISCAT (Associazione Italiana Società Concessionarie Autostrade e Trafori - Italian Association of Motorway and Tunnel Concessionary Companies) is the associative body that brings together, as full members, companies/consortia holding concessions for the construction and operation, or for the sole operation, of motorways and road tunnels in Italy. Currently, the sections managed by the members cover a total of more than 4,597 km compared to the almost 7,000 that make up the entire Italian motorway network. Founded in 1966 at a time when the motorway network and the concession system were undergoing major development, AISCAT is concerned with problems relating to the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and management of motorways and motorway tunnels. In this context, the Association carries out research and studies in the field of safety, planning and transport economics - with the main aim of being able to contribute to raising the level of service provided to users - as well as representing the sector on every useful occasion and acting as a point of contact in discussions between its members and institutions both nationally and internationally.
AISCAT participates, offering its contribution and decades of experience, in the most important international sector international organizations in the sector, such us ASECAP (the European association of motorway concessionaires, of which it is a co-founder), PIARC (World Road Association) and IBTTA (International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association).
