Overview

About Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation

The Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation (AHKF) is a grassroots, SECP-registered non-profit working to reduce urban poverty through women-centered, participatory development. Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan, founder of the Orangi Pilot Project, we promote access to health, education, and livelihoods in underserved cities across Pakistan.

Our programs empower local women as health workers, educators, and entrepreneurs. Through our Urban Impact Lab, we design data-driven, community-led solutions using behavioral research, GIS mapping, and human-centered design.

📊 Impact Highlights:
• 16,000+ women reached with financial & enterprise support
• 4,280+ immunizations delivered
• 2,352+ family planning referrals via trained Aapis
• 75% of students on need-based scholarships
• Projects in Rawalpindi, Karachi & Sahiwal

We turn research into action, building resilient communities through local leadership and lasting change.
