About Alvar Aalto Route – 20th Century Architecture and Design
Cultural Route on Aalto’s Architecture and Design Heritage Association promotes and fosters the access of traveling audiences to the sites designed by Alvar Aalto’s architectural office. The association was established in 2020 and it was initiated by Alvar Aalto Foundation and Alvar Aalto Cities, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Education of Finland.
In 2021 Alvar Aalto Route – 20th Century Architecture and Design – was awarded the certification as one of the valued cultural routes of the Council of Europe.
The association maintains the Visit Alvar Aalto website. Reservations related to Alvar Aalto’s architectural sites are the responsibility of the sites and tour operators.
Recent activities have been implemented in frames of The Aalto Cultural Tourism ecosystem project which aims at strengthening the network of Alvar Aalto destinations by creating an international tourism ecosystem. The Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland granted the project funding to the Alvar Aalto Foundation and it is implemented by Cultural Route on Aalto’s Architecture and Design Heritage Association. This support for the renewal of the cultural and creative sectors enables the recovery of the cultural tourism business to be accelerated after the pandemic.
