About American Academy of Environmental Medicine
The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) is a global leader in advancing education, research, and advocacy in environmental medicine, root-cause care, and whole-person healing. Founded in 1965 by a pioneering group of board-certified allergists, AAEM has grown into an internationally respected organization representing physicians and healthcare professionals dedicated to identifying and treating the effects of environmental exposures on human health.
We are a physician-led nonprofit focused on equipping today’s clinicians with the tools to recognize, evaluate, and treat the root causes of illness—often driven by environmental toxins, chemical sensitivities, nutritional imbalances, mold, infections, and other overlooked contributors.
AAEM serves as a professional home for licensed medical doctors (MD), osteopathic doctors (DO), naturopathic doctors (ND), PA-C, NP for Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner. and other licensed providers committed to evidence-based, prevention-driven care that restores and protects long-term health.
As an Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accredited organization, AAEM offers AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits, educational conferences, expert-led training, and clinical resources for those practicing functional, integrative, alternative, and holistic medicine through an environmental lens.
