Overview

About Alberta Next-Generation Additive Manufacturing (ANGAM) Lab

In the Alberta Next-Generation Additive Manufacturing (ANGAM) Lab, we focus on developing process-driven solutions for additive manufacturing (AM) of next-generation materials, such as high-temperature corrosion-resistant materials, ultra-high-strength alloys, high-performance metallic and ceramic materials, and alloys containing rare-earth metals and critical minerals. We use numerical, analytical, and experimental methods to: 1. Optimize processing (e.g., process parameters, orientations) and post-processing (e.g., treatments, sintering) procedures for higher performance; and 2. design, develop, and manufacture materials that can operate in harsh and extreme conditions (e.g., high-temperature, corrosive, impact, shock, irradiated), and we establish the process-microstructure-property-performance relationships for these materials. Our team works with a number of national and international collaborators from industry, government, and academia to offer advanced manufacturing solutions for the Defense, Nuclear, Aerospace, and Energy sectors.
