About St Ann's Hospital
St. Ann’s Hospital, Vijayawada stands magnanimously under God’s Divine Providence as one of the sought after educational and health care institutions in the state. The Sisters of St. Ann, Luzern whose head quarters is in Switzerland, started St. Ann’s Hospital, Vijayawada popularly known as “American Hospital” in the year 1940. Mother Elizabeth Affentranger, the pioneer of our Society who came to India from Switzerland in the year 1927 is the Foundress of this Hospital. This hospital is located in Andhra Pradesh in Krishna Dt, was started as 40 bedded hospital in the year 1940 under the leadership of our Swiss missionary Mother Elizabeth Affentranger who volunteered daringly to venture into action with an untiring zeal and devouring spirit. This hospital was prominently known as “maternity hospital”. Today it is grown to a hospital with 350 beds catering to the health needs of thousands of people in and around Krishna District and far and wide.
