About Anxious Minds
Anxious Minds is a registered charity dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing, with a strong and growing focus on the Community Mental health Support and Veteran Mental Health. Our core aim is to ensure that people in the Northeast, and veterans, families and carers can access timely, high-quality, accredited mental health support before difficulties escalate into crisis.
We specialise in early intervention, recovery-focused support and long-term wellbeing delivering a range of specialist services, including one-to-one therapeutic support, group interventions, wellbeing activities and the Community and Veteran Recovery College, which provides structured, peer-informed courses that support self-management, resilience and recovery.
Our services are independently accredited through the Quality Network for Veterans’ Mental Health Services, The BACP And the National Society of Counsellors and Psychopaths and align with NHS Recovery College principles.
Our geographical focus is the North East of England, with established provision in North Tyneside, Northumberland and expansion into County Durham in 2026 to meet growing unmet need. Our beneficiary group includes Local people, young and old, veterans from across the Armed Forces community, as well as their families and carers.
Veterans are actively engaged in our organisation. Many are involved as peer supporters, volunteers and advisors, and their lived experience directly informs service design, delivery and evaluation. We regularly seek feedback through consultation groups and co-production sessions, ensuring veterans have a meaningful voice in decision-making and the ongoing development of our services.
Our project has won 8 national awards for its work within the veteran community.
