About APM Planning, Monitoring and Control Interest Network
Our purpose? To promote awareness of the benefits of planning, monitoring and control in the project profession. We also bring professionals together to share best practices, advance career opportunities, increase diversity and explore emerging trends.
What do we do? Planning determines what will be delivered, how much it will cost, when it will be delivered, how it will be delivered and who will carry it out.
Monitoring is the recording, analysing and reporting of project performance as compared to the plan in order to identify and report deviations.
Control is tracking performance against agreed plans and taking the corrective action required to meet defined objectives.
What we offer our followers? Our primary focus is project control encompassing techniques and processes as well as intersections with areas like risk, governance, and program and portfolio management.
We have published several guides and tools, including our "Planning Guide" and papers on topics like "Schedule Management." We also have working groups exploring areas such as project data analytics.
We are also interested in the behavioural aspects of management and their impact on implementation and leadership.
Additionally, we place high value on networking and mentorship opportunities, sharing personal experiences and insights.
How to get involved? Our diverse group brings a wide spectrum of expertise and experience—we welcome all types of people into our discussions.
We meet monthly to discuss opportunities for experts, beginners, specialists, and generalists from all industry sectors to connect. We also regularly update our publications and documentation.
“We usually have a good mix of experience in the room,” says network lead Edwina Hayward. “Everyone here is open to offering their support and sharing expertise.”
