About TechCharities.org a service of Applied Technology Foundation

To help low income families build technical skills and confidence by providing computer
resources, technical training, and, when possible, temporary employment.

Assist companies and individuals effectively recycle old technology and securely erase confidential data.

Background
1. Need: Many new refugee and low income families are not able to access the vast
array of training and other helpful information now available on computers and the
internet. (e.g. medical advise, employment aids, schooling, language, and housing). A
primary focus is to help children and youth succeed in school. Accessibility to
information is often limited because of the cost of computers, the cost of the internet,
lack of skill to use computer resources, and the limited number of computers for use in
public building (libraries) and other support agencies (NGO’s).

2. Available Resources: Families, businesses, and other organizations regularly upgrade
their computers and they often look for ways to safely erase and discard them.
This provides a consistent supply of computers that may be used for families
and individuals in need. Volunteer technicians are trained and certified to pick-up
donated computers, erase the hard drive, re-load public software, inventory, and
distribute them for use.

3. Partnerships (indirect support for families): TechCharities.org partners with existing NGO’s to provide additional computer resources, training, and technical support as requested.

4. Institute (direct support for families): TechCharities.org has establish an institute to provide
a) training for clients, temporary employment, and out placement; and
b) public sales of computers that have been refurbished by clients and others. Clients who complete their
training and help refurbish computers will receive a refurbished
computer as part of their compensation. The institute "Computer Campus" is located at
508 E South Temple, Suite A45, Salt Lake City, UT 84102
