About APPROVED HYDRAULICS LIMITED
Company History & Growth
Founded in 1985, Approved Hydraulics began as a one-man venture, built on a foundation of technical expertise and hands-on engineering experience. Initially, the company focused on hydraulic services, specialising in the installation, maintenance, and repair of lorry-mounted cranes.
A major turning point came in 1987 when Managing Director Geoff Hindle earned a scholarship to Manchester Business School. This opportunity fueled rapid expansion, leading to the recruitment of experienced mobile service engineers, the establishment of new workshops, and the launch of a dedicated sales office. These developments enabled the company to diversify its product range and enter new markets.
After 22 years of steady growth in hydraulic service engineering, the company took a strategic leap in 2007, shifting its focus toward scalable expansion through the sales of niche hydraulic products.
Today, Approved Hydraulics continues to grow with two primary business areas:
• Hydraulic Attachments – Supplying equipment for forestry, construction, subsea, demolition, and agriculture.
• Key Hydraulic Components & Bespoke Solutions – Serving OEMs and retailers with products such as control valves, hydraulic cylinders, motors, PTOs, pumps, radio remote controls, and other specialised components for commercial vehicles.
The company holds exclusive distribution agreements with leading global manufacturers, further strengthening its market position.
Support from Manchester Business School and Cranfield University has played a key role in shaping Approved Hydraulics into a multi-million-pound business. With a clear vision and strong foundations, the company is well-positioned for continued growth in the years ahead.
