About us
Amhara Agricultural Research Institute (ARARI) is a research institution located in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. It focuses on research and development in agricultural science, particularly in areas such as crop improvement, livestock genetics, and natural resource management. The institute is committed to improving the lives of smallholder farmers in Ethiopia by providing access to new technologies and research findings, and by building capacity in rural communities. It has partnerships with international organizations such as the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Vision
In consonance with the vision and guiding principles of the rural development strategy of the region ARARI envisions excelling and spearheading agricultural technology generation and, through the use of which, aspires to see the livelihood of the people improved.

Mission
To contribute to the advancement of people’s welfare by generating appropriate and cost-effective technologies in the fields of crops livestock fishery, soil and water, forestry, pre-and post-harvest agricultural implements, and food science

In pursuit of its vision and mission, ARARI strives to generate appropriate agricultural technologies that contribute the enhanced and sustainable agricultural productivity, competitiveness, economic growth, food security and poverty eradication.
