About Asian American Dream
Asian American Dream (AAD) was founded in May 2021 to forge new pathways to career success for Asian American and Pacific Islander undergraduates.
Across the United States, there is a severe lack of career readiness programs for AAPI college students. Long-established and well-endowed organizations exclude AAPI out of their target communities. This systemic oversight stems from the harmful and pervasive model minority myth that all AAPI are wealthy, well-connected, and possess abundant social capital. However, AAPI face the largest income disparity of any ethnic group, with the top 10% earning 11 times that of the bottom 10%.
At AAD, we provide mentorship, professional development, and career advancement opportunities for first-generation and low-income AAPI undergraduates in New York. Furthermore, we empower our students to chase and achieve their unique vision of the Asian American dream – one that champions their AAPI heritage, lived experiences, and career goals.
