About Association GOVIIN KHULAN
Association Goviin Khulan is a wildlife conservation organization working in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert since 2008, with a primary focus on Khulan conservation (Mongolian wild ass) and the protection of Gobi Desert biodiversity.
We safeguard Khulan populations — a threatened wild equid and umbrella species — while advancing broader wildlife conservation and ecosystem protection across the southeastern and southern Gobi.
Our work combines community-driven conservation, participatory monitoring, scientific research, and conservation education to co-create long-term solutions that bridge traditional ecological knowledge and science.
Through awareness raising, capacity building, and partnerships with local communities and protected area administrations, we promote sustainable human-wildlife coexistence and strengthen stewardship of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert ecosystems.
Our organization is registered in France and works in close partnership with Mongolian communities and institutions to ensure locally grounded and lasting conservation impact.
