About ASSOCIATION OF REFUGEES WITH DISABILITY
ARD is a non-profit organization founded in response to the pressing need for specialized assistance for refugees living with disabilities. We recognize the unique challenges faced by this population and we are committed to addressing them through our holistic approach.
Our Work:
Advocacy and Awareness: We advocate for the rights of refugees with disabilities in Uganda, raising awareness about their specific needs and challenges within the refugee crisis.
Access to Services: ARD works tirelessly to ensure that refugees with disabilities have access to essential services such as healthcare, education, rehabilitation, and assistive devices. We collaborate with governmental agencies, NGOs, and local communities to facilitate the provision of these services.
Empowerment and Skill-building: We believe in the inherent capabilities of refugees with disabilities and strive to empower them through skill-building programs, vocational training, and employment opportunities, enabling them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
Inclusive Community Development: ARD promotes the creation of inclusive communities where refugees with disabilities are valued members. We engage in community development initiatives, foster social cohesion, and combat stigma and discrimination.
