Associazione di Solidarietà Donne per le Donne (ASDD)

Associazione di Solidarietà Donne per le Donne (ASDD) was founded in Italy in May 2022 by seven women refugees from Afghanistan who evacuated their country following August 2021. They come from diverse backgrounds, such as technology, health, psychology, social work, and finance. ASDD represents the first-of-its-kind association in Rome. ASDD has four main objectives: support and empower Afghan women refugees in Italy, improve their social, psycho-social, and economic status, advocate for women’s rights, create bridges between the Afghan and the Italian culture and people, promoting sharing experiences initiatives. As a community-based frontline organization, ASDD has been in contact with refugee women in Italy and witnessed their needs in terms of service provision. ASDD’s mission is committed and obliged to achieve gender equality and empowerment for all women refugees from Afghanistan according to the fifth sustainable development goal of the United Nations by doing research, conducting capacity-building workshops, awareness raising, and coordination for education and job opportunities. ASDD conducts capacity-building activities, workshops, and awareness-raising about three key areas: mental health, career and employment opportunities, and sociocultural activities, including access to legal services. The latter is instrumental in guiding women refugees into entering the job market.
