African Migration Observatory (AMO)

The African Migration Observatory (AMO) is a Specialized technical agency of the African Union (AU) based in Rabat Morocco, inaugurated in 2020, to improve the overall migration governance in Africa. AMO mandate is to ensure synergies of activities for the production of harmonized, quality and timely migration data; build the capacity of member state in the production of migration data; boost and coordinate the national, regional and continental efforts to contribute to improving migration governance. AMO aims to advance the African continent's knowledge base on migration and mobility data, and ensure harmonization towards establishing a continental unified source of migration data. AMO aims to contribute to evidence-based migration policies within the African Union (AU) and support other existing migration initiatives by relevant AU bodies.
