Prostate Cancer Facts and Statistics
• Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Australian men*
• Prostate cancer kills more men than breast cancer kills women
• Australia has the highest incidence of prostate cancer in the world
• About 20,000 men are diagnosed each year, the average age of diagnosis is 67 years
• 1 in 6 men will develop prostate cancer before the age of 85
• 1 in 2 Australian men and 1 in 3 Australian women will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85.

A snapshot of what we do:
• We opened Australia’s first public, comprehensive prostate cancer and men’s health centre in Melbourne
• We run the world’s only international prostate cancer congress
• We collaborate nationally and internationally on research projects to develop blueprint models of treatment and care
Prostate Cancer Testing:
We published the Melbourne Consensus on Prostate Cancer testing, which as a guideline states that men from 40 onwards benefit from a Prostate-Specific Antigen Test (PSA Test)
