Overview

About Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations

The Australian Youth Representative Program of UN Youth Australia elevates the experiences of young people across Australia to the United Nations.

Since 1999, UN Youth Australia has supported an annual Youth Representative to the United Nations, in partnership with Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Each year, The Youth Representative holds the largest nationwide consultation tour of young Australians, to understand their visions, challenges, and perspectives on current domestic and international issues and opportunities.

These consultations inform their subsequent placement at the United Nation's General Assembly in New York as an accredited member of the Australian Mission to the UN. At the United Nations, the Youth Representative delivers a national address on behalf of the young people of Australia and informs dialogues on global issues.

Upon returning to Australia the Youth Representative delivers a report to the Australian Federal Government along with all State and Territory Governments on the year's consultations and key findings along with recommendations.
