About Cheshire Homes India - Mumbai
Cheshire Homes India-Mumbai (CHM) a Mumbai based Secular and Non-Political Charitable Organisation founded in the the Year 1955 by Late Group Captain Leonard Cheshire VC, DSO, providing residential care to persons with disabilities with no means of support.
CHM is the first Home founded by Leonard Cheshire outside the UK, which also marked the beginning of his international work, wherein he went on to establish over 250 Homes in over 54 countries.
While CHM continues to provide residential care for persons with disabilities, it has over the years evolved into a comprehensive services provider to children, adolescents, youth and adults with disabilities with focus on Special & Inclusive Education, Health & Rehabilitation and Employability Skills Training for Sustainable Livelihood.
Cheshire Home today is viewed as a valued facilitator, catalyst and solutions provider to various companies/employers in fulfilling their Diversity and Inclusion mandates. Cheshire Home also enjoys the confidence of other organisations like PSU Banks, Retail and Hospitality sector organisations as a disability awareness and accessibility enabler.
Advocacy and awareness creation is an integral part of Cheshire Home’s work that has a direct bearing on the rights of persons with disabilities. Cheshire Home aims to address issues that impact the health, education, financial and overall well-being and to ensure rights of persons with disabilities.
