About Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland
Led by CEO Darren Young, Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland is the peak body representing older people in Queensland.
We work with and for older Queenslanders to amplify lived experience, influence policy and support ageing well across the state.
COTA Queensland is a member of the COTA Federation, the national network of Councils on the Ageing across Australia. Through this federation, we contribute Queensland perspectives to national advocacy while ensuring local voices inform decision-making at all levels.
This page shares advocacy insights, policy developments and sector intelligence on issues impacting older Queenslanders, including social isolation, housing, health and care, safety, digital inclusion and ageism.
We engage with government, community organisations, researchers and partners to help create a more inclusive, age-friendly Queensland.
Our vision is that ageing in Queensland is a time of possibility, opportunity and influence.
We recognise the impact of systemic inequality, disadvantage and discrimination on some Queenslanders as they age, and we are committed to speaking out on these issues to achieve our vision.
We advocate through participation in advisory committees, public commentary, policy submissions and by supporting programs and initiatives that align with our objectives.
