Overview

About Defence Community Dogs

Defence Community Dogs rescues abandoned dogs and extensively trains them to become Assistance Dogs to support serving and ex-serving ADF personnel suffering from injuries and illnesses (including PTSD). The dogs are trained by the inmates at Correctional Centres under the guidance of professional dog trainers. Once fully trained, the dogs are given to veterans in need. This program rescues Dogs, rehabilitates inmates and saves veterans. The Defence Community Dog program is funded by The Defence Bank Foundation.
