About Diego's Joint CIC
Diego’s Joint CIC is a creative community hub, café and social enterprise based in Sunderland, operating since 2022 though officially founded in 2024 by social entrepreneur and educator Dan Makaveli. Born from Media Savvy CIC, the core values centre around community, creativity, music, niche ethical products, craft beer and of course, social impact. Diego’s Joint offers an inclusive space where creativity and community thrive side by side.
We serve as a platform for connection, collaboration and opportunity — hosting exhibitions, workshops, performances, and events that celebrate local talent and culture. The café and bar provide a relaxed, welcoming environment that helps sustain its wider social mission, reinvesting profits into community-based activities and creative development programmes.
The organisation champions diversity, social inclusion and positive mental health, working closely with local artists, educators and partner organisations to deliver meaningful, accessible experiences for people from all walks of life. Whether it’s a poetry night, a comedy show, art exhibition, or a wellbeing workshop, Diego’s Joint embodies a grassroots approach to regeneration — using creativity as a tool for empowerment and social change.
