Dorset Museum & Art Gallery, founded in 1845, is the repository and the protector of Dorset's past. Behind its Victorian gothic façade on the county town's High West Street, astonishing collections of archaeology, geology, social history, literature and the arts have been assembled, containing artefacts of international significance.
