Overview

About Edmonton Humane Society

Founded in 1907, the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) is one of the oldest and most reputable charities in both Alberta and the animal welfare sector. Each day, EHS strives to be a model of excellence in the advancement of animal welfare and to lead the movement in creating a more humane world.

Thousands of homeless, neglected and abandoned companion animals from Edmonton and surrounding communities are taken in by EHS every year. These animals are provided with veterinary treatment, behavioural rehabilitation, care and enrichment from EHS staff and a large volunteer and foster network of over 1,000 people. The dedication and commitment to these animals gives them a second chance at finding a forever home, which they may not otherwise have.

As a registered charity, EHS receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of the community to do the work that they do. Every gift helps fulfill a step in an animal’s journey to a forever home.

Beyond animal sheltering, EHS engages with the community and offers programs and services to pet owners and pet lovers alike. Through these programs and services, community engagement, and animal sheltering, the Edmonton Humane Society enriches the lives of people and companion animals.
