A Kaleidoscopic Week of Franco-Botswana Relations and Strategic Partnerships
A #kaleidoscopic look back at an inspiring week deepening the relationship between France 🇫🇷 and Botswana 🇧🇼.
🇧🇼🇿🇦 Delighted to attend the State Dinner hosted by President #Boko in honor of President #Ramaphosa. Strategic partnership (regional integration, economic cooperation, energy, agriculture, trade, infrastructure and collective stability in Southern Africa). Strong neighbours make a stronger region.
🇪🇺 #Europe celebrated in #Gaborone! At the EU Residence, commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the #SchumanDeclaration (9 May 1950). French statesman Robert Schuman laid the foundations for European peace through the pooling of coal and steel production between France and Germany after WWII. A visionary act that transformed a continent of war into a continent of cooperation.
🇧🇼🇫🇷 #AfricaForward. France wants to work with Botswana as an equal partner to support AI-driven economic diversification, productive investment, and job creation. Excellent exchanges w/ 🇫🇷 companies in 🇧🇼leading in water management, telecommunications and the dairy sector.
📚 At the Univ. of Botswana, alongside a passionate 🇧🇼 librarian who graduated in French studies, visit of the 🇫🇷 French and francophone humanities collection. Victor Hugo, Romain Gary, Molière... French literature inspires students in Botswana !
🇫🇷 #AllianceFrançaise de Gaborone, a vibrant linguistic and cultural hub promoting the French language and francophone cultures. Exciting times ahead: a larger, more modern and more ambitious building on this beautiful site. Yes we can!
🤝 The Ambassade de France au Botswana continues working alongside the French community in Botswana to help strengthen its organisation and deepen its connections with local communities. #Community matters.
🎨 Contemporary #San art through the #KuruArtProject, supporting artists from San communities in western Botswana. A passionate and deeply moving exhibition.
Meanwhile, in France and around the world 🌍...
🇫🇷 #ChooseFrance! For the 7th year in a row, France confirms its position as Europe’s leading destination for foreign direct investments. Innovation, industrial transition, green technologies and AI driving this momentum.
🎬 Botswana 🇧🇼 at the Festival de Cannes — the world’s leading film festival and a global showcase for cinematic creation and artistic freedom! By inviting young Botswana filmmaker Moreetsi Gabang , France is proud to support Botswana’s artists and emerging creative talents on the international stage.
🐘🐄 #AnimalHealth matters. In Paris, the General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health (#WOAHGS) launched a new wildlife health strategy reinforcing a #OneHealth approach. Gaborone proudly hosts WOAH’s Regional Representation for Southern Africa.
🏅Congratulations to #CollenKebinatshipi, now one of the fastest men in the world after his extraordinary 100m performance. 🇧🇼 is truly establishing itself as a global athletics powerhouse.
