Investing in Career Readiness: More Than Just Getting a Job
What makes one candidate stand out from hundreds of applications?
It is not always the person with the most experience. Often, it is the person who knows how to communicate their value, present their achievements, and confidently tell their professional story.
As part of the Duafe Springboard Fellowship, I had the opportunity to participate in an insightful career development session facilitated by Alfred Quaye from Jobberman Ghana.
The session provided practical guidance on:
✔ Developing strong CVs and compelling cover letters
✔ Understanding employer expectations and hiring decision-making processes
✔ Navigating job opportunities effectively, including leveraging Jobberman platforms
✔ Preparing for interviews and responding confidently to common interview questions
✔ Approaching competency-based interviews with structure, clarity, and confidence
One lesson that stood out for me is that a CV is not simply a record of where you have worked. It is a marketing document that communicates the value you can bring to an organization. Likewise, an interview is not an interrogation; it is an opportunity to demonstrate how your skills, experiences, and potential align with an employer’s needs.
Programs like the Duafe Springboard Fellowship are creating spaces where women can gain the knowledge, confidence, and professional skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market.
To every woman seeking personal and professional growth: consider joining the waiting list. The investment you make in your development today may open doors you never imagined tomorrow.
Career success rarely happens by chance. It is built through preparation, learning, and the willingness to keep growing.
Thank you Baaba Amoh Berima-Kwao, Jobberman Ghana , Stanbic Bank Ghana and Duafe . I do not take this opportunity for granted.
