Deeply Personal Panel on Caregiver Wellness at APA Foundation Discussion
Honored to participate today in the American Psychiatric Association Foundation’s panel discussion, “Caregivers in Crisis: A Psychiatric Call to Action,” at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
As someone currently supporting my mother through Alzheimer’s and dementia, and who also helped my late father navigate dementia-related care, veterans’ services, hospice, and end-of-life support, this conversation is deeply personal to me. Caregiver mental health is too often overlooked, despite caregivers carrying enormous emotional, mental, and logistical responsibilities every day.
A special thank you to Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq. for thinking of me and extending the invitation to participate in this important discussion. I truly appreciate the opportunity.
Thank you as well to Dana Harris and the American Psychiatric Association Foundation for coordinating and convening such a timely and necessary conversation around caregiver wellness, mental health, and community support.
I’m also grateful to share the stage with an incredible group of leaders and experts:
• Dr. Mark Rapaport, MD
• Dr. Smita Das
• Christina Irving
• Dana Harris
Looking forward to an impactful discussion about how we better support caregivers, families, and communities moving forward.
