ICC Netherlands Launches Digital Lunch Breaks: Exploring the New Electronic Bill of Lading Law
ICC Netherlands is launching a new monthly series: Digital Lunch Breaks - short 30 minutes sessions, once a month, on the issues that actually move international trade.
We kickoff with a milestone for Dutch trade: the electronic bill of lading is now law.
On 31 March 2026 the Dutch Senate adopted MLETR-based legislation giving electronic bills of lading the same legal standing as paper, putting the Netherlands among the first countries in Europe to do so. For exporters, banks and forwarders that have waited years for legal certainty, the question now is simple: how do we actually use it?
In our first session, we bring together two practitioners working on opposite sides of the same shipment.
→ Ron Van Staten , legal specialist and Managing Director at ING : what the new law enables in trade finance and letters of credit- and where friction still remains
→ Michel van den Hoven , the Head of Trade Compliance at Philips , sharing a major exporter's view on the journey towards : onboarding platform, document flows, and the real business case
30 minutes. Practical, no marketing, straight to what you can use.
🗓 Friday 6 june 2026 | 12:00–12:30 CET | Online (Teams) This launch edition is free and open to everyone.
