Maryland Introduces Legislation to Permit Sunday Waterfowl Hunting

Legislation to allow Sunday waterfowl hunting in Maryland has officially been introduced in both chambers of the state legislature.

Delta Waterfowl is voicing support for House Bill 1063, which would authorize the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to permit Sunday hunting for migratory game birds. The bill heads next to the Natural Resources and Open Space subcommittee before moving to the House floor. Senate Bill 0643 has also been referred to the Education, Energy and the Environment committee.

The legislation follows a year of stakeholder meetings with members of the General Assembly, DNR, and the outdoor community. Delta has testified in support of the bill and worked alongside conservation partners and lawmakers to find a common-sense path forward for waterfowl hunters.

Delta will also be testifying in support of the Senate bill and looks forward to continued conversations with lawmakers and hunters across the state.
