We’re proud to share the impact of Opening Minds through Art, led by Covington Ladies Home with support from ArtsWave.
Over the past year, high school students partnered weekly with older adults living with dementia at The Victorian at Riverside to create art and meaningful connections. The program served 20 participants (11 older adults and 9 youth), led to consistent improvements in resident mood across 38 sessions, and culminated in a public exhibition celebrating their work.
More than anything, it showed how creativity can bridge generations, building empathy, confidence, and genuine human connection.
