Congratulations to Puawai Waipouri on being named a finalist in this year’s National Association of Women in Construction NZ (NAWIC) Excellence Awards.
As a Traffic Supervisor on the Eastern Busway Alliance project, Puawai keeps four busy work zones moving along one of Auckland’s main corridors. It’s fast-paced and high-pressure, but she brings calm, practical decision-making that keeps crews and the public safe.
She steps up when it matters most, managing incidents on live roads, improving layouts on the go, and delivering safe, efficient outcomes.
Puawai is also passionate about lifting others. She mentors cadets, leads hands-on training, and helps build a strong, supportive team culture. Beyond the site, she’s out in the community, helping young people see the opportunities our industry can offer.
Good luck at the awards, Puawai!
