Revisiting Childhood Narratives for Leaders: Releasing Pressure to Perform
In this clip I describe how many leaders grew up in families in which they become a parentified child, heroically taking on roles in the care of the family precociously. This hero role sets them on a path of striving, achieving, and seeking thresholds of success. Only when they are afforded a chance to revisit the narratives of their early childhood can they usually release the pressure to perform and begin a life of self expression, meaning and happiness.
