Full water tanks – less stress, more security for households
Installing 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ rooftop water tanks for more than 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣people in villages in southern Jordan.
The rooftop tanks help households store water more safely and reliably, making it easier for families to manage their daily water needs for drinking, cleaning, cooking, and other everyday uses. In areas where water distribution schedules are irregular, having enough storage capacity can make a big difference for households by providing greater stability and reducing stress.
The tanks were installed through the Strong Water Utilities (SWU) project in cooperation with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development JOHUD, in the villages of Yaroot (Karak), Fardakh (Ma’an), and Abu Bana (Tafileh). Each tank can store 2m3 of water, benefiting more than 3,000 inhabitants in the communities.
The activities are part of the SWU Project’s efforts to strengthen resilience, improve water use efficiency, and support rural communities in adapting to growing climate and water-related challenges in Jordan.
The Strong Water Utilities project is implemented by GIZ Jordan and commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)
