Gabrielle's Wings is a non-profit organization that believes in the power of the "butterfly effect" - the idea that even the smallest change can create a significant impact. At Gabrielle's Wings, we firmly believe that every child has unlimited potential, and it is our mission to provide them with equal educational opportunities. We understand that these opportunities not only strengthen a child's ability to succeed in life but also have the power to inspire others to do the same. We believe in providing safe spaces and places where children can be free to learn, grow, explore, and be curious. We believe in developing the whole child through cultivating social-emotional learning, which helps children develop crucial life skills such as self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and responsible decision-making. We believe in a holistic approach to education for children that provides support not only in the classroom but also in their communities and homes, by bringing together families, educators, and community organizations. Gabrielle’s Wings was founded by Michelle Hord, Gabrielle’s mother. Gabrielle was a remarkable seven-year-old girl, full of kindness and energy. Unfortunately, she gained her "angel wings" tragically on June 6, 2017. While those who love her will always mourn her loss, Gabrielle’s Wings has channeled their grief into a powerful mission - extending Gabrielle's legacy by helping other children around the world. Our mission is to provide elementary-aged children of color in historically excluded communities with the same opportunities and experiences that Gabrielle had during her too-short life.
