About Glenoaks Remedial & Special Needs School
Glenoaks is a remedial, special needs and vocational school for a range of neurodiverse learners. Our mission is to see potential, encourage perseverance and create possibilities.
We offer learning experiences for children between the ages of 6 and 18, in small classes, and our service includes individual and group therapies as part of the fees. Our multi-disciplinary therapy team consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Audiologists, Psychologists and Remedial Therapists.
In our Remedial Stream we focus on narrowing or closing academic gaps to the extent that a learner can be re-introduced to mainstream schooling, or progress to a supportive high school. In our Vocational / Special Needs Stream we offer individualised programs that include functional academics, life skills, daily living skills and work skills, assisting our learners to be more independent and employable. The Vocational Academy offers highly personalised work experience placements aligned to learner's strengths, abilities, and interests, culminating in years of work experience and possible employment opportunities when they graduate.
Our learners experience a variety of barriers to learning including: ADHD; Mood Disorders and Anxiety; Autism; Cognitive and Developmental delays; Learning Disabilities; Dyslexia / Dyscalculia / Dyspraxia / Apraxia; Hearing and Visual Impairments; Genetic Disorders (such as Down Syndrome,) and Congenital Conditions (such as Cerebral Palsy).
We also offer specialised training to parents, educators, schools, therapists and businesses in areas like understanding disability and neurodiversity, exploring specific conditions / disabilities and tools for parents of neurodivergent children. We encourage businesses to host and employ our learners and graduates and support employers to integrate them into the workplace.
