About Green and Healthy Frome
"Green and Healthy Frome" is an award-winning partnership between Frome Medical Practice, Frome Town Council, and Edventure, funded by the National Lottery’s ‘Climate Action Fund.’ We are working together on this community-led initiative to achieve a health and climate win-win.
How? By exploring ways we can help local people to live lives that are good for their health and the planet. If we improve one, we'll also improve the other, enabling everyone to share in a better future.
We want to tell the story of how healthy people and a healthy planet are interlinked and how communities can lead the way. To enable this future to become a reality, we set up a collective of community-led initiatives that provide climate and health co-benefits such as offering schemes that encourage active travel, improving energy efficiency and living conditions in homes, repairing clothes to embrace a less consumer-driven circular economy, amplifying the benefits of growing and eating locally, encouraging responsible food waste practices, promoting the use of plastic-free period products, and the inclusion of green and social prescribing within our medical practice.
We know that ‘the climate is not in a box.’ Healthier people make a healthier planet, and a healthier planet supports healthier people. We aim to tell a new story that engages people to live both a greener and healthier life.
