About Green Bangle Movement
To address the urgency of mangrove plantation in Bangladesh, an ongoing afforestation plan of action 'Green Bangle Project (GBP)’ is being implemented under the leadership of Dr. Mosae Selvakumar Paulraj, Associate Professor in Chemistry at Asian University for Women (AUW). This project is being funded by the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation and facilitated by Youth Power in Social Action (YPSA). GBP focuses on Gulia-Khali area Sitakundu, Chittagong for rearing 30,000 mangroves, including palms, in collaboration with coastal women over the course of 3 years. Further, this team has started the Green Bangle Movement to grow plants into a campaign with the united participation of females from all over Asia.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
1. Promote mangrove tree plantation and conservation in the region.
2. Raise awareness about the importance of environmental preservation.
3. Provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in the community.
