Hain Foundations

Hain Foundations comprises four foundations dedicated to supporting scientific research in environment and climate, clinical medical research, medical research, and humanities. Jan Hain established the first two foundations in 1994 following the wishes of his parents, Inga and John Hain, after their passing. In 2013, Jan Hain founded a third foundation, and in 2023, he donated a significant amount to all three existing foundations as well as established the fourth and latest foundation. The four foundations are: Jan Hain Foundation for Scientific Technical Research in Environment and Climate (2023) Jan Hain Foundation for Scientific Clinical Medical Research (2013) Inga & John Hain Foundation for Scientific Medical Research (1994) Inga & John Hain Foundation for Scientific Humanistic Research (1994) Since 1994, the foundations have significantly grown, from awarding 40,000 SEK in 1994 to 6 million SEK in 2024. In total, the foundations will have awarded 29,540,000 SEK up to and including 2024. The board of each foundation selects and decides on the grant recipients. It is not possible to apply for a scholarship.
