About Harland Works
Events - Workspaace - Cafe
What we now call Harland Works actually includes two buildings - Clifton Works and Harland Works - which are linked together round a central courtyard. This part of Sheffield used to be a centre of cutlery production - next door is Portland Works where stainless steel was invented by Harry Breardley in 1913 and was used in the workshops in Clifton Works for making knife and saw blades. There are signs of a big fire and there is even said to be a ghost.
Now the building offers 12,000 square feet of workspace within units of varying sizes. From the very small to the large, they're used for a variety of purposes including retail space, a cafe, woodworking workshop, recording studios, pottery classes and offices.
As well as units, we also cater for events - both the courtyard and events space are available to hire. You can find out more here: https://www.harlandworks.co.uk/event-space-for-hire
We're continuing to develop our event programme and encourage anyone with an event idea to get in touch with us so we can help bring this to life!
