About Horse Racing Ireland
Horse Racing Ireland is the national authority for the overall administration, development and promotion of horse racing in Ireland. Established in 2001, our mission is to develop and promote Ireland as a world centre of excellence for horse racing and breeding.
Our Registrations Department handles racehorse ownership, naming and registrations as well as records of horses in and out of training, while the Publications Department produces the weekly Irish Racing Calendar and the Irish Form Book and provides the media with racecard information on all Irish meetings.
The Racing Department is responsible for entries and declarations and handles any queries relating to going reports, handicap ratings and balloting and our Race Planning section compiles the annual Fixture List for Irish Racing and reschedules any cancelled fixtures. Racecourse Services are responsible for the provision and maintenance of mobile track equipment
One of our main objectives is to get more people to go racing, so our Marketing Department runs national campaigns to attract and retain racegoers with a mixture of nationwide advertising, mainly in radio, print, and online.
We have three commercial subsidiaries: HRI Racecourses Ltd, which owns and operates Leopardstown, Navan, Tipperary and Fairyhouse Racecourses; Irish Thoroughbred Marketing (ITM), an international marketing agency promoting Ireland as the best country in the world in which to breed, train, buy and race thoroughbred horses and Tote Ireland, which provides a wide variety of betting options for all racegoers, with all profit going back into Irish racing.
