About Vape Escape
A vaping awareness campaign providing evidence-based information and supportive articles for children and adults wishing to quit vaping, along with supportive resources for parents and schools.
Did you know that there 230,000 11-17 year olds in the UK vape more than once a week? Or that there are 500,000 daily users of e-cigarettes in the UK in 2024 and rising, who have never-smoked?
VapeFree works towards achieving primary prevention in raising awareness to prevent uptake by never-smokers, and secondary support for those motivated to, yet struggling to quit the third most addictive drug after heroin and cocaine.
The campaign is primarily designed for never-smoker vapers and children and young adults, with a secondary demographic of ex-smoker vapers who, after 12 months of use or more (as advised by The National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training) who are motivated to quit.
We do not deny the efficacy of e-cigarettes in smoking cessation and tobacco harm reduction, and support their use for this purpose, but do not believe they should be a lifelong solution given the unknown long-term health risks of vaping, known health risks of nicotine addiction, and safer alternatives: fresh air.
We will be able to provide health coaching to support those wishing to quit, alongside recruiting therapists to bolster formal support, and be giving in-person presentations to secondary schools in Jersey to target the epidemic amongst children and adolescents (although this is a UK wide campaign).
We are also in advanced talks of developing a mobile phone app with the aim of utilising digital health technology to increase the cessation rates given the role digital technology plays in our culture today, especially amongst our future: the youth of today.
